Open Hand Atlanta
As Georgia continues to struggle with the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, Open Hand continues to meet the increased demand for their services – both in our community and in others throughout the state. Volunteers are needed to deliver meals, load vehicles and other necessary tasks throughout the building .
Recognizing the need for bold action to address worsening poverty and inequality in Georgia, Action Ministries and HOPE Atlanta joined forces in 2021 to build a comprehensive homelessness and hunger relief program. Volunteers are needed to help get food and critical resources to those in the community that need it.
Blood Donation Centers
Donating blood products is essential to our communities and the need for blood products is constant. As hospitals resume surgical procedures and patient treatments that were temporarily paused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, donors are urged to give now to ensure blood products are available for patients. According to Refugees International, more than 80 million people worldwide have been displaced by conflict, human rights abuses and persecution, and many millions more are displaced each year by climate related- disasters. Catholic Charities Atlanta (CAA) provides Refugee Services to refugee families arriving in the metro Atlanta area. The extensive resettlement services are designed to help refugees achieve economic and social self-sufficiency within their first six months in the United States. Pebble Tossers is hosting a Painting Furniture & Fix-It Day with CAA on July 21. Click here for more information and to register. Volunteers can also assist Catholic Charities Atlanta by furnishing an apartment with useful items for a refugee family. Books For Africa
Books For Africa (BFA) was founded upon a singular mission: to end the book famine in Africa. BFA collects, sorts, and ships books, computers, tablets, and library enhancement materials to every country in Africa. BFA remains the largest shipper of donated text and library books to the African continent. Pebble Tossers volunteers are needed to sort and pack books on July 14 & 19.Click Here For More Details and To Register
